Week of November 2

To order any of this week’s goodies, please send an email to calamint.farms(at)gmail.com.   Quantities are limited, so orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This week’s offerings:

  • Mixed radishes: $1.00/bunch

Cherry belle and French breakfast. Peppery but mild. Great in salads, sliced on sandwiches, or shredded with carrots, turnips, or other root vegetables as a mixed vegetable slaw. Use the tops in smoothies, stir fries, or soup.

  • Hakurei turnips: Sold out for the week

Surprisingly sweet, I’ve been known to eat these all-white beauties for dessert! I love these too much raw (diced in salads) to have much experience cooking them, but they can be roasted, steamed, or sauteed too. Tops can be added to stir fries or simmered endlessly with pork, southern style.

  • Jerusalem artichokes: $3.00/pound

Think of these as fall potatoes. These will arrive dirty for longer storage. To clean, soak in cold water about 10 minutes, then scrub clean. It may help to break the tubers into smaller pieces during this process. It is unnecessary and maddening to peel these, so simply roast or boil whole. Great roasted with other root vegetables (potato, sweet potato, parsnip), or boiled and mashed.

  • Honey: $6.00 per half pound jar

Our latest fall crop of honey.  Completely chemical-free: no pesticides, fungicides, or bee repellant. Just pure honey goodness.
