Farm update – 1/1/2018

Happy New Year! A new year brings with it a chance to reflect on the old year and to forge ahead into the new year with ideas for making this year even better than the last. With that in mind, we put together an end-of-year survey so that we can learn what worked well this year and what we should be doing differently in 2018. If you’re able, please take just a couple minutes and fill out the survey below; we appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!

Almost wherever you are this new year’s day, it’s cold! Although we’re staying above 0, not something every place can say, we are dropping into hard freeze territory this week, and having to consider wintry concepts like wind chill. Brr!

We’ve been harvesting anything we’re afraid we might lose, and so despite the chill, we still have quite a variety of veggies available to start off the new year. Kale, spinach, kohlrabi, watermelon radishes, carrots, and cabbage were just some of what was harvested this weekend in preparation for the big freeze. The other big task was to make sure all outdoor water lines are off or dripping to protect them from freezing.
